Panthers Fall @ Fatima

March 30, 2012
By David Meyers of Centralia High School

The Centralia baseball team traveled to Fatima on Thursday night and ended up on the short end of an 11-7 score.

Sophomore Gannon Peavler started on the mound for the Panthers and gave up 7 runs on just 3 hits in 5 innings, but walks (5) and errors (8) put the team in an early hole they couldn't dig out of.  Fatima scored 4 runs in the first and 2 in the second that had the Panthers scrambling from the beginning.

Centralia got a run in the 2nd inning, a run in the third and closed the gap to 7-5 with a 3 run 4th.  Nathan VanBoening took over on the mound but surrendered 4 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks all but ending the Panther chances.  Centralia added a run in the 6th for the final margin.

Offensively Alec Ford and Chandler Kovar were both 3/4 with a homerun and 2 rbis's for Centralia.

The Panthers host the CCC Pre-Season tournament on Saturday, and play the last 2 games of the day, scheduled for 1:30 and 3:45.  Centralia is now 2-3 on the season.
