Home » Football NewsHouston Football Playoffs -- The Must Games to See....November 21, 2011 By Matt Malatesta of VYPE MAGAZINE - Central HoustonArea Round: Where You Should Be… Ahmard Vital Scout.com
There is plenty of action going on around the city. But remember, each week half of the teams will be heading home. For now, let’s see where some of the marquee match ups will be…
Most games are played on Saturdays this late in the postseason.
Friday, November 25 Dayton vs. Manvel – 7 p.m. Deer Park Abshire Clearly Dayton has been great all season, but this is likely the toughest game to date for the Broncos. And rightfully so. This is Round three of the playoffs.
Other games of note… Angleton vs. Vidor – 6 p.m. Galena Park
Saturday, November 26 Katy vs. La Porte – 6 p.m. Tully Stadium What’s not to like about this game? Here are two teams that pride themselves on running the football and playing good defense. Now if you are a person who wants an air-it-out, high-scoring affair this game is not for you. But if a good old fashioned grind-it-out ball game is what you like, take I-10 West and exit Dairy-Ashford and follow the cars with orange or red flags on their cars.
Cy-Fair vs. Hightower – 1 p.m. Tully Stadium Since you most of you will be in attendance for the Katy game, you may as well turn it into a full day of Texas High School football. This game is an interesting one in that one has a pretty potent offense (Hightower) going against a stingy Cy Fair defense. And while Cy Fair is one of the better ball clubs in the area, going against an athlete like Bralon Addison is a full-time job.
Other games of note… Houston Memorial vs. Port Arthur Memorial – 1 p.m. Humble Turner This will be a hard-hitting game in a battle of Memorials
Beaumont Ozen vs. La Marque – 2 p.m. Baytown Stallworth Ozen is on high after a win over Brenham, but the road to state has to pass through the defending state finalist from La Marque.
