Home » Athletics NewsSwim and Dive Have Great Outing at State MeetFebruary 25, 2013 Centerville High SchoolThe Centerville swim and dive teams had a solid performance at the Ohio High School State Tournament last weekend that was held in Canton, Ohio. The Boys team came in 5th place, just missing 4th place by 2 points. The Lady Elks came in 9th place. Senior Captain Josh Brooks finished in the top 8 in 3 events. Josh was 2nd place in the 200 yard Individual Medley and broke his own school record for that event. He was 4th place in the 500 yard Freestyle and was in the 400 yard Freestyle Relay that placed 5th. Also in that Relay were Senior Captain Jake Carlsen, Tyler Fullington and Chris Quarin. The Girls competition was very fast and several state and pool records were broken.The Lady Elks had 2 relays that finished in the top 8. Both the 200 yard and 400 yard Freestyle Relays placed 7th. Emma Curtis, Senior Captain Claire Butkus, Madison Stout and Emma King were on the 200 yard Freestyle Relay. Claire Butkus, Emma King, Maddison Eckley and Grace Hoffmann were on the 400 yard Freestyle Relay. The divers were met with fierce competition with some of the competing divers having made the World team and some trying out for the Olympics. The Girls competed on Thursday and both Olivia Lehman and Katie Polk made it to finals after surviving 2 rounds of cuts after the fifth and eigth rounds. Olivia Lehman medaled and took 6th place, Katie Polk finished 10th while Maddy Woods finished at 19th place. The boys competed on Saturday morning and Noah Hickey also survived the two rounds of cuts and finished up in 10th place. Brad Hornbostel finished up in 24th. Congratulations to all 21 Centerville High School swimmers and divers that competed in the State Championships."
