GREENWOOD, Ind (May 21) - 4A #3 Center Grove was eliminated from the IHSAA state tournament Tuesday, losing at home to #19 Franklin Central 5-0.
The Flashes scored all five runs in the bottom of the second-inning highlighted by FC pitcher Gabby Snyder big hit. Snyder drilled a bases loaded double, scoring three runs.
In the pitcher's circle, Snyder limited the Trojans to just two hits and struck out 10 and only walked two.
Senior Anna Gunderson and junior Sarah Thompson were the only CG players to register a hit. Gunderson and sophomore Mallory Baker also reached base with a walk each.
Sophomore pitcher Ali Line suffered the loss, giving up six hits and five earned runs in one and two third innings of work. Freshman Taylor Hammill hurled the final four and one third innings, allowing one hit and zero runs.
Center Grove concludes the season with a 20-3 record, MIC co-champs, Johnson County Tournament Runners-Up, a class 4A #3 state ranking, senior Kimmie Sullivan's school record of 23 career home runs and head coach Russ Milligan's 700th career win.
Franklin Central meets #23 New Palestine today at 6:00 p.m. in the Sectioanal 13 championship at Center Grove.

GREENWOOD, Ind (May18) - 4A #4 Center Grove concluded regular season play Saturday with a win and a share of the conference championship. The Trojans took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning and added two more runs in the third to beat Terre Haute North 5-1. CG finishes league play with a 6-1 mark, tied with Terre Haute South for first-place.
Senior Kimmie Sullivan set the CG career home run record with her 23rd homer. She cracked her ninth homer of the season against the Patriots and added three RBI. Junior Kailey Robinson had a hit an RBI and senior Sarah Butler also contributed one hit and a run batted in.
Sophomore pitcher Ali Line earned the win, improving her season record to 9-1. She allowed five hits, one earned run and struck out five in five and one third innings of work. Freshman Taylor Hammill pitched the final inning and two thirds to pick-up the save.
Center Grove (20-2, 6-1 MIC) begins sectional play at home Tuesday with a semifinal game against #19 Franklin Central at 7:00.
GREENWOOD, Ind (May 16) - Center Grove won its final non-conference regular season game Thursday in five innings with an 18-1 home victory against Scecina.
Senior Kimmie Sullivan hit her eighth homer of the season and tied the school record for career home runs. Sullivan went 3-3 against Scecina and had four RBI. She now has a team best 35 runs batted in for the season. Sophomore Mallory Baker was perfect from the plate with three hits in three at bats. She had a double, two singles and two RBI. Junior Sarah Thompson contributed three hits including a double and three RBI.
Sophomore Ali Line collected the win to improve her record to 8-1 on the season. She threw three innings, allowing only one hit and struck out two. Sophomore Abbey Pratt pitched the final two innings.
Center Grove is 19-2 on the season heading into its final regular season game on Saturday. The 4A #4 Trojans host #11 Terre Haute North Saturday at noon for their last conference game. CG (5-1 MIC) needs a victory to be co-MIC champs with Terre Haute South (6-1 MiC).
GREENWOOD, Ind (May 15) - 4A #4 Center Grove erupted with 10 runs in the third inning Wednesday to beat Columbus North 12-1 in five innings in a non-conference home game.
CG led 2-1 after two innings and then posted 10 runs in the third to put the Bulldogs away. For the game, senior Lauren Weidman went 2-3 with two RBI and one run. Junior Kailey Robinson was also 2-3 with two runs batted in and scored once. Sophomore Mallory Baker added a hit and two RBI for the Trojans.
Freshman pitcher Taylor Hammill recorded her first complete game of the season, throwing five innings and only allowing three hits and one earned run. She improved her record to 2-1.
CG is now 18-2 overall on the season. The Trojans host Scecina on Thursday.
GREENWOOD, Ind (May 13) - 4A #4 Center Grove wasted very little time in disposing of Mooresville in Monday’s home non-conference game, beating the Pioneers 12-2 in five innings.
Sophomore pitcher Abbey Pratt remained perfect on the season, improving her record to 9-0. Pratt hurled her sixth complete game of the season, giving up five hits, zero earned runs and a walk and struck out two. She has a team best 39 strike outs for the year.
Junior Sarah Thompson accounted for three of CG’s 13 hits, going 3-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base. Senior Sarah Butler reached base safely in each of her four plate appearances with a double, two singles and a walk. Butler scored three times and had an RBI. Senior Lauren Weidman contributed a triple and two runs batted in.
Center Grove (17-2) hosts Columbus North Wednesday for a 5:00 non-conference game before hosting #11 Terre Haute North Friday at 6:00 for its final conference game. The Trojans (5-1 MIC) need a victory versus THN (5-1 MIC) to share the MIC title with Terre Haute South (6-1 MIC).
GREENWOOD, Ind (May 11) - 4A #1 Center Grove hosted #3 Greenwood Saturday in the Johnson County Championship. Greenwood junior pitcher Brittany Gray held CG’s potent offense to only three hits, striking out 10 and only walking one in leading her Woodmen to its first county title in school history.
Greenwood took a 2-0 lead after three innings and added two more in the 5th enroute to a 4-1 win.
Sophomore Victoria Boyer scored the Trojans’ only run on an RBI single by sophomore Mallory Baker in the fourth.
Sophomore pitcher Ali Line (7-1) suffered her first defeat of the season, allowing nine hits and three earned runs over five innings.
This was CG’s first loss in the 15-year history of the county tournament. The Trojans (16-2, 5-1 MIC) look to bounce back Monday with a 5:00 home non-conference game against Mooresville. It will be “Senior Night” for the Trojans.
GREENWOOD, Ind (May 11) - The Center Grove Trojans hosted Franklin in the semi-finals of the Johnson County Tournament Saturday. CG knocked off the Grizzly Cubs 7-2 to remain undefeated in the 15 –year history of the county tournament.
Seniors Kimmie Sullivan, Sarah Butler, Lauren Weidman, and Shelby Shaffer each had two hits apiece for CG. Junior Sarah Thompson also had two hits and senior Alex Combs added a triple.

The victory put the Trojans overall record at 16-1. The 4A #1 Trojans face the #3 Greenwood Woodmen in the county finals Saturday afternoon.
GREENWOOD, Ind (May 7) - 4A #1 Center Grove suffered its first loss of the season with a 5-4 setback at home against conference rival Carmel on Tuesday.
The Trojans (15-1, 5-1 MIC) established a 3-0 lead after two innings, but couldn’t hold the lead. The Greyhounds rallied with five runs. CG added another run in the fifth, but it wasn't enough.
Senior Anna Gunderson went 1-3 and scored twice for CG. Junior Kaily Robinson and sophomore Mallory Baker each had a hit and a run batted in. Sophomore Victoria Boyer had the only extra base hit for CG with a double and scored once.
Freshman pitcher Taylor Hammill (1-1) suffered the loss. The Trojan defense did not commit an error.
The conference loss places the Trojans in second-place in the MIC standings at 5-1, a half-game behind first-place Terre Haute South.
GREENWOOD, Ind (May 3) - 4A #2 Center Grove seized the top spot in the MIC standings with a 9-0 home win against Terre Haute South Friday. The Trojans are the only team still undefeated in league play at 5-0. The loss drops the Braves to a second-place tie with Terre Haute North at 5-1.
CG sophomore pitcher Ali Line (6-0) threw her third completer game and second shutout. She only allowed two hits over seven innings.
Senior Kimmie Sullivan hit her team-leading seventh homerun of the season. Junior Sarah Thompson also homered for the Trojans, her second of the year. Senior Sarah Butler also added a double for the Trojans.
CG (15-0, 5-0) is at Decatur Central Monday for a non-conference game at 5:30 before returning home Tuesday to face Carmel at 5:30 for a league game. Carmel is fourth in the standings at 4-1.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind (May 1) - The 4A #2 Center Grove Trojans continue to excel at all phases of the game – hitting, pitching and defense. CG pounded out 19 hits, surrendered only one run and committed zero errors in a 19-1 non-conference win in five innings at Bloomington North Wednesday.
The Trojans’ defense played another stellar game behind starting sophomore pitcher Abbey Pratt, completing their ninth error free game of the season. Pratt (8-0) registered six strike outs against the Cougars, giving her a team best 36 Ks in 49.2 innings pitched. This was Pratt’s fifth complete game.
Junior Sarah Thompson nearly hit for the cycle with a home run, triple and three singles. She was 5-5 from the plate with four runs batted in and five runs scored and one stolen base. Thompson leads CG this season with three triples. Junior Kailey Robinson also had a triple, two singles and two RBI. Seniors Lauren Weidman and Kimmie Sullivan each had two hits including a double.
Center Grove (14-0, 4-0 MIC) hosts Terre Haute South (5-0 MIC) Friday at 6:00 for a MIC game. The winner will have sole possession of first place in the league standings. Carmel (3-0 MIC) is the only other MIC team still undefeated in conference play. The Trojans host the Greyhounds next Tuesday at 5:30.
GREENWOOD, Ind (April 30) - Center Grove dominated Warren Central in a home conference game Tuesday with superb offense, pitching and defense. The class 4A #2 Trojans (13-0, 4-0 MIC) hammered the Warriors with a one-hit shutout in five innings, 13-0.
CG collected 20 hits in four innings of offense, led by Kimmie Sullivan’s 4-4 performance. Sullivan had a double, three singles, one run batted in and scored once. Sullivan leads CG on the season with a .617 batting average, six HRs and 26 RBI.
Seniors Shelby Shaffer and Alex Combs each went 3-3 against WC. Shaffer tallied three singles, an RBI and scored twice. Combs notched two doubles, a single, two RBI and two runs scored.
Sophomore starting pitcher Ali Line threw a complete game to improve her record to 5-0. Line worked five innings, allowing just one hit and striking out eight. The Trojan defense did not commit an error.
CG is second in the MIC standings at 4-0. Terre Haute South is first with a 5-0 record. The Trojans host the Braves Friday at 6:00. Carmel is the only other undefeated team in league play at 3-0. CG hosts the Greyhounds next Tuesday at 5:30.
Center Grove returns to game action today with a 5:00 non-conference game at Bloomington North.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind (April 29) - Class 4A #3 Center Grove held off class 4A #16 Perry Meridian on Monday for a 3-1 non-conference road win.
CG took an early 1-0 to lead in the first inning. The Falcons tied it at 1-1 in the third. The Trojans rallied with two more runs in the fourth to secure the vicory, improving their road record to 4-0 and 9-0 in non-league games.
Senior Kimmy Sullivan led the Trojan offense against PM with her team leading 6th HR and 25th RBI of the season. Sullivan was 2-4 on the day with a solo homer, single and an RBI. Senior Sarah Butler also notched two hits in three plate appearances with a double and single. Senior Shelby Shaffer added a single and an RBI and freshman Mandy Dallas went 1-1 with one RBI.
Sophomore ace pitcher Abbey Pratt (7-0) recorded her seventh win of the season. Pratt struck out three, walked two and gave up two hits in 4 1/3 innings of work. The run scored by the Falcons in the third was unearned. Pratt has a team best 30 strikeouts on the season. Freshman Taylor Hammill pitched the final 2 2/3 innings, allowing one hit and striking out one.
Center Grove (12-0, 3-0 MIC) hosts Warren Central today for a league game at 5:00.
PENDLETON, Ind (April 27) - Class 4A #3 Center Grove knocked off class 4A #2 Pendleton Heights in a non-conference game Saturday on the road 5-4 in 12 innings.
CG led 2-0 after four and half innings, but the Arabians rallied with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to lead it 3-2. Pendleton Hts. added one more run in the sixth to take a 4-2 lead into the seventh. However, the Trojans were very resilient, battling back with two runs in the top of the seventh to tie it at 4.
CG senior Sarah Butler had the game winning RBI in the top of the 12th. Butler had two hits and two RBI on the day. Senior Anna Gunderson notched two hits and scored twice. Senior Lauren Weidman had two hits and scored twice and junior Sarah Thompson had a double and an RBI.
Freshman relief pitcher Taylor Hammill threw the final 5 and one third innings, holding the Arabians scoreless. The freshman struck out four and only allowed one hit to earn her first win of the season.
Center Grove is now 11-0 on the season, 3-0 on the road and 8-0 in non-league games. CG is at Perry Meridian Monday for 5:00 non-conference game. The Trojans return home Tuesday to host Warren Central for a 5:00 league game.
LAWRENCE, Ind (April 26) - Center Grove head coach Russ Milligan reached 600 career wins Friday as his Trojans blanked Lawrence North 18-0 in a road conference game Friday. Milligan becomes the first coach in Indiana high school softball to achieve this feat. Milligan also holds the coaching record for the most softball state titles in Indiana with four.
The Trojans jumped out to a 5-0 lead over the Wildcats after two innings and exploded for nine more runs in the fourth. They added four more in the fifth to secure the win in five innings.
Senior Kimmy Sullivan cracked her fifth homerun of the season to lead the Trojans. Sullivan went 3-4 on the day with six runs batted in. Junior Sarah Thompson hit successfully in four out of five plate appearances, with a run batted in and four runs scored. Senior Lauren Weidman added three hits, three runs and three RBI.

CG remains perfect on the season with a 3-0 league record and 10-0 overall. The class 4A #3 Trojans are at class 4A #2 Pendleton Heights Saturday for a non-conference game.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind (April 25) - Class 4A #3 Center Grove pounded out 17 hits in a 25-0 conference win at North Central Thursday, giving its head coach, Russ Milligan, his 599 career win. The game was completed after four innings due to the mercy rule.
Senior Anna Gunderson and Junior Kailey Robinson combined for 11 runs batted in and two home runs. Gunderson’s offensive stat line was extraordinary: 4-5 hitting, five RBI, four runs scored, a double and her first HR of the season. Robinson contributed six runs batted in and her first HR of the year.
The Trojan pitchers combined for a no-hit shutout, striking out five and allowing no walks. The CG defense was flawless with no errors.
Sophomore starting pitcher Ali Line hurled the opening three innings, striking out three to remain perfect on the season at 4-0. Freshman Taylor Hammill pitched the final inning, striking out two.
This was CG’s (9-0, 2-0 MIC) first away game of the season. The Trojans return to the road again today for a 4:45 conference game at Lawrence North. A victory will give Milligan 600 career wins.
Center Grove is at class 4A #2 Pendleton Heights Saturday for an 11:00 non-conference game.
GREENWOOD, Ind (April 22) - Class 4A #3 Center Grove rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat #10 Franklin Central 3-2 in 10 innings at home Monday.
The Flashes led 2-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring a run in the first and third. Center Grove Seniors Kimmy Sullivan and Anna Gunderson each had a run batted in the fifth to tie the game at two.
CG sophomore ace pitcher Abby Pratt threw seven innings, allowing two earned runs, five hits, one walk and striking out four. Sophomore Ali Line came on in relief in the eighth, shutting out FC in the final three innings. Line allowed just one hit, two walks and recorded two strike outs to earn her third win of the season.
Sullivan hit the game winning RBI in the bottom of the 10th, driving in Gunderson. Sullivan had two hits and two RBI in the game. The Notre Dame recruit leads CG with 18 hits and 17 RBI on the season.
Center Grove remains unbeaten on the season with an 8-0 overall mark and 1-0 in league play. The Trojans play their first road game of the season Tuesday at 5:30 with a conference game at North Central.
GREENWOOD, Ind (April 20) - Class 4A #4 Center Grove (7-0, 1-0 MIC) remained perfect on the season with two wins Saturday in the Trojan Classic. CG notched shutout wins over Mt. Vernon, 8-0, and Jennings County, 6-0.
Sophomore pitcher Abby Pratt recorded her fourth shut-out win, allowing only four hits and no walks and striking out four in the victory over the Marauders in game one. Pratt is 5-0 on the season.
Senior infielder Kimmy Sullivan was 3-3 hitting, including her fourth homerun of the season.
In game two, sophomore pitcher Ali Line improved her season record to 2-0 with a win against Jennings County. Line struck out four, walked two and gave up four hits over five innings. Junior Taylor Hammell pitched the final two innings to secure the shutout.
Sullivan went 3-3 again from the plate with two runs batted in. Senior infielder Anna Gunderson went 2-3 with two runs scored and sophomore catcher Mallory Baker added two runs batted in.
CG hosts class 4A #16 Franklin Central today at 5:00 for a non-conference game.

GRENWOOD, Ind. (April 12) - Class 4A #5 Center Grove defeated Brownsburg Friday in a home non-conference game, 9-0. The Trojans erupted for eight runs in the fifth inning, breaking up a scoreless game. CG added one more run in the sixth.
Sophomore pitcher Abbey Pratt threw five scoreless innings to improve her record to 4-0 on the season.
Senior Anna Gunderson was 3-4 with a double, two runs scored and two stolen bases. Senior Sarah Butler went 2-4 from the plate, hitting her first homer of the season and added two RBI. Senior Kimmy Sullivan had two hits in four at-bats, notching one doubles and two RBI. Junior Sarah Thompson was 3-4 with a run scored and a stolen base.
CG (5-0, 1-0 MIC) is idle today. The Trojans are at Lawrence North Tuesday for 5:30 conference game.

Senior first baseman Sarah Butler had two doubles in two plate appearances. The Trojans return to action Thursday when they host Brownsburg at 5:00 for a non-conference game.
GREENWOOD, Ind. (April 8) – Class 4A #7 Center Grove remained undefeated with a 14-4 home win Monday against Martinsville in five innings. The Trojans (3-0, 0-0 MIC) were led offensively by senior third basemen Kimmy Sullivan. The Notre Dame recruit went 3-3 with two HRs, a double and four runs batted in. Senior outfielder Alex Combs also went 3-3 from the plate with two doubles and two RBI. Sophomore pitcher Ali Line (1-0) earned her first win of the season. CG hosts Ben Davis tonight at 5:00 in its conference opener.
