Baseball Season Opener

Kansas City, MO - The Center High School Yellowjackets Baseball team dropped their season opening Varsity/JV doubleheader yesterday against the Celtics from O'Hara. The Jackets fell 13-1.

Although the Jackets failed to develop any offensive consistency at the plate, the team played solid defense including some exceptional plays in the field. Most notably, Senior Jamal Lee with a few impressive snags in Center.

The Jackets started Senior Zach Daniels on the mound, who demonstrated good command and composure. In relief, Senior Ricardo Carrillo threw a solid two innings.

Head Coach Neal Weitzel said of the game, "Looking back on the game, the first inning was exactly how we want to perform in the field, but we have to do that in every inning."

The Jackets' lone run came in the bottom of the 5th inning, driven in by Junior Dalton Ostergard who went 2-2 on the day, and was scored by Freshman 2nd basemen Jvon Evans.

The Jackets are looking forward to their next match-up, a home varsity/JV doubleheader against the Warriors of St. Pius on Monday, April 4th at 4:00p.m.
