Runnin Women place 4th of 31 teams at the New Haven Inv.

The Ladies Varsity seven got the day started with the first H S race of the day. Thirty-one schools toed the line in the small school competition (schools with less than 1000 students). Celina's Runnin' Women tallied 184 points, which was good for 4th place. Napoleon (the only other Ohio school in the meet) won with a score of 98. Leo was 2nd with 125, followed by Angola (133) and CHS. Hannah Fleck led the Dogs with her personal best time of 19:46, good for 4th place overall. Andrea Bell equalled her personal best of 20:27 in taking 18th of the 180 finishers. Holly Thobe (21:31) knocked :49 off her previous fastest time in triggering the finish radar in 51st. The trio of Ashley Coon (season best 21:43), Katlin Robinson (career best 21:43), and Claire Schmitmeyer (season best 21:44) finished together and earned the 57th, 58th, and 59th positions. Completing the Celina seven was Sarah Daniel in 114th with a personal best 23:16. Sarah lowered her previous mark by 1:01.
In the JV race all three Celina participants had successful outings. Micah Engle (86th of 265 finishers) ran her fastest time in two seasons with her 23:40. Autumn Brehm (102nd) shaved 1:06 off her previous best in posting a 23:53. Angel Prenger (151st) ran 24:59, a best by a whopping 1:26.
Five of the seven Varsity Guys completed the course in personal record times as they finished 16th of the 33 competing teams. CHS finished with 368 points. Whitko won the team title with 93, followed by Guerin Catholic (126), and Heritage Christian (141). Derek Pease once again was the Celina 'Top Dog'. Derek ran a career best 17:24 in placing 32nd of the 215 runners. Chris Nusbaum and Cole Mertz took 48th and 49th with marks of 17:43 and 17:44 respectively. Cole's clocking was a personal best by :23. Zach Mitchell (108th) chopped :20 off his career fastest as he ran 18:39. Jared Owens was 139th in 19:20. Jacob Gilstrap (163rd) and Andrew huff (185th) both crossed the finish stripe in personal fastest times, Jacob 20:06 (a drop of :43) and Andrew 20:48 (a best by :28).
In the JV race Dylan Gibbons hit the line in 206th place of 336 finishers with a career best time of 20:40 (:31 drop in time). Mason Miller placed 212th and improved on his earlier best by :15, running a 20:45.
The Runnin' Dogs look to keep up the improvement at the Fairmont Firebird Invitational on October 2nd in Kettering.
