Celina Rotary Invitational

Saturday morning, August 23, the Cellina Cross-Country Team hosted the Annual Celina Rotary Invitational, on the grounds of the Wright State University Lake Campus.  Nineteen schools converged on the shore of Grand Lake to traverse the 5000 meter course.  Rolling hills, soft soggy to muddy conditions, high humidity, and warm temperatures, along with a sunny sky greeted the 700 plus harriers, making for a tough, early season competition.

The morning began with the high school girls race. Although all 19 schools competed in the race, the team results were split into two divisions.  The 'Green' Division consisted of the nine biggest schools, while the 'White' Division had the 10 smallest schools.  The Celina Girls, season opening, Mercer County Meet schedule for August 19 was postponed due to lightening.  To make up the meet the Ladies combined their county meet with the Rotary Inv, as all six county schools competed on Saturday.  The Runnin' Women opened their season on a good note.  They finished 2nd in both the Rotary Invitational 'Green' Division, and in the Mercer County Results.  Leading the way was Lauren McDonough who was 5th overall of the 206 ladies who crossed te finished line.  Megan Muhlenkamp was next for the Ladies, taking 18th place.  Jenna Coon was 26th, Nicole Bowsher 32nd, and Ashley Robinson 47th to complete the scoring five.  New Haven won the 'Green' Division with 43 points. Celina was second with 71, five ahead of of third place Findlay.  In the Mercer County standings Coldwater was first tallying 32, to Celina runner-up total of 47.  Earning 'All Mercer County' accolades by finishing in the top 10 were Lauren (2nd), Megan (5th), and Jenna Coon (9th).

The Guys took the course after the Ladies. As with the girls, 19 schools competed.  Led by Drew Donovan's 12 place of the 191 finishers, Celina's Men WON their 'Green' Division.  The Green and White edged runner-up New haven by one point, 45-46.  Joining Drew in the scoring five were Roman Mitchell (17th), Chad Downey (23rd), Michael Cron (24th) and Stetson Miller (29th).

COMPLETE RESULTS may be found in the 'Document' Section.  Race results include overall 'Combined' results, 'Divisional' results, and for the girls...Mercer County results.

NEXT UP...at the Granville Invitational on Saturday, August 30.
