Mercer County Meet
Tuesday afternoon, August 19, the Celina Runnin' Bulldog CC Team opened its 2014 campaign, competing in the annual Mercer County Meet. All six county districts were represented at the Saint Henry course.
A severe lightening storm forced postponement of the final race of the day, the H S Girls race. The Girls will use Saturday's Celina Rotary Invitational to determine a County Champion, as all 6 schools will be running in the Rotary Inv on Saturday, August 23.
The first three races ran as scheduled on Tuesday, beginning with the Middle School boys and girls. The High School Boys took the course after the MSers. Preseason state ranked, St Henry captured the 'team' title, by eight points over runner-up Celina. Both teams had 5 runners in the top 14, with St Henry's top 5 totaling 34 points to CHS's 42. Coldwater was 3rd with 55, followed by Marion Local (117), Ft Recovery (131), and Parkway (159). Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Drew Donovan who placed 3rd (17:29.30). Roman Mitchell crossed in 6th (18:05.70), Chad Downey 9th (18:38.10), Stetson Miller 10th (18:40.10), and Michael Cron 14th (19:09.60). Drew, Roman, Chad, and Stetson earned 'All Mercer County' by virtue of their top 10 efforts. Aaron Crites finished 23rd (20:07.00), Nathan Robinson 24th (20:11.80), and Nathan Higgins 49th (22:58.30) in the 78 runner field.
Next up...at the Celina Rotary Invitational, Saturday, August 23, on the rounds of Wright State University Lake Campus. The Girls run at 9:30, the Guys at 10:15.
