By Daniel Otten of Celina High School

Senior Sam Phares and Junior Bekah Carr represented the Celina Runnin' Bulldogs at the 2014 OHSAA State Track and Field Championships on June 6-7.  Competing in Divison I (big schools) Sam and Bekah looked to end their seasons on a positive note.  Both did their best at doing so.  Sam equalled his career best in the pole vault, with a clearance of 14' 0".  His performance earned him a 12th place result.  Bekah had two events at the State Meet, the 100 meter hurdles and long jump.  In her preliminary run at the hurdles on Friday, she ran 15.62 which faioed to qualify her for the finals, but did put her in the 15th position for the state.  Saturday's long jump saw Bekah Jean leap 17' 8".  The distance was far enough to give her a 6th place spot on the podium, and 3 points in the team stamdings.

Both Sam and Bekah were awarded 'Academic All Ohio' accolades, based on their classroom successes and athletic achievements.  Bekah Jean's 6th place earned her 'All State' honors.

CONGRATULATIONS SAM AND BEKAH JEAN, on your outstanding seasons.
