Bekah Carr advances to 'State' in two events!
Friday, May 30 was Day 2 of the Amherst Division I Regional Track and Field Meet! Three Runnin' Bulldogs took part on Friday, looking to join Sam Phares at the June 6-7 State Championship Meet. On Wednesday, May 28 Sam earned his trip to Columbus with his 4th place finish in the pole vault (top 4 in each event advance).
On Friday Bekah Carr (pole vualt, long jump, and 100H), Emily Jackson (100H and pole vault), and Cole Mertz (1600 run) took their shot at going to State. Cole ran a career fastest 4:30.08 to finish 9th in his race, thus ending his Celina T&F career on a high note! Emily ran in the rerun of her preliminary 100H race. Wednesday the race was invalid due to incorrect hurdle placement. On Friday she took 5th in her heat and missed the finals by 1 spot. In the pole vault she failed to clear a height.
Bekah Carr had a 'State Qualiying' day in 2 of her 3 events. In the pole vault she cleared 11'0", good for a 7th place result, and 2 'team' points. In the hurdles, Bekah Jean ran 15.67 and crossed the line 3rd, to earn a spot in Columbus. A career best jump of 18'5.25", put Bekah 3rd in the long jump (4th best in the state heading to the championship meet). She will compete Friday, June 6 at 5:15 in the hurdle prelims, and at 3:00 on Saturday in the LJ finals.
Sam Phares will vault Saturday, June 7, 12:00 noon in the D-I pole vault.
