Bulldogs Wrap up District Competition!

Three more Bulldog Track Athletes qualify for the Amherst Regional Track and Field Meet.
Tiffin Division I District Track & Field
Friday, May 23 was the final day of the Tiffin Division I District Track and Field Meet, hosted by Columbian High School. On Wednesday Sam Phares and Jack Hinders earned spots in the Amherst D-I Regional by virtue of their top four placings in the pole vault and long jump respectively. Friday, three more CHS athletes joined Sam and Jack. Bekah Carr, Emily Jackson, and Cole Mertz will make the trip to the Cleveland area for the May 28 and 30 competition as all three finished in the top four of their events.
Bekah had a stellar day as she claimed District Titles in three events. In the process she established a District Record, tied a School Record, and set a personal standard for one of the events. Bekah began the day with a personal best in the long jump on her first attempt, leaping 17'8.5". The jump led the field through the preliminaries. Moments later she WON 100m hurdles, running 15.65 into a slight wind. Over to the pole vault, where after 16 vaults, she tied her school record of 11'9", defeated the defending champion, broke the District Record and WON the vault. Not yet finished with her long jump event, she returned for her final three jumps. Having already secured the WIN, went on to set a new personal mark of 17'11.75" on her fifth trial. Three events, three firsts, and three spots at Regional.
Emily Jackson followed Bekah's lead as she advanced to Amherst in three events. Em had personal bests efforts in two of her three disciplines. She will join Bekah at Regional in the 100m hurdles and pole vault. Her third place vault of 10'0" was a career best. She ran career fastest 48.01 for the 300m hurdles to advance with a fourth place result. In the 100m hurdles she also crossed in fourth (16.66), for her third Regional qualifying effort.
Senior Cole Mertz earned his first ever trip to Regional as he ran a career fastest 3:31.09 to cross the fourth.
A number of other. Bulldogs had scoring efforts on Friday. Stefan Chittum just missed a Regional birth as he took 5th in the 300m hurdles, in a career fastest 40.57. Kelly Moeder had a personal best 16'1" to claim the 5th spot in the long jump. Megan Imwalle was 6th in the 200 (27.78). Earning 7th place points were Alyssa Hoyng (300 hurdles), Ashtyn Phlipot (400), Girls 4x100 and 4x200 relays. Roman Mitchell (3200), and the Boys 4x200 relay were 8th.
In the 'team' competition the Runnin' Women placed 3rd of the 16 schools with the Guys taking 8th of 14. Ashland Girls and Norwalk Boys won the District Titles.
Sam, Jack, Emily and Bekah head to Amherst on Wednesday, for Day 1 of the Regional, with Bekah, Emily and Cole going back on Friday for Day 2.
