Celina Runnin' Bulldogs at District.
Wednesday, May 21 was the first day if District Track and Field competition for the Celina Runnin' Bulldogs. Both the Boys and Girls are OHSAA Division I for the 2014 and 2015 seasons, thus in the Tiffin District Meet.
Wednesday's competition included finals in 5 field events as well as the 4x800 relay. The top four placers in each event at District earn spots in the Amherst Regional which takes place May 28 and 30. Prelims were held in the sprints, hurdles and sprint relays, with the top 8 performers advancing to Friday's finals.
On Thursday Celina had two Regional qualifiers and seven scorers. Sam Phares won the PV and Jack Hinders took 3rd in the long jump to advance to Amherst. Sam cleared a career best 14'0" to claim the top spot. Jack jumped 20'10.75" for his Regional qualifying performance. Mason Baker took 8th in the PV (12'0"), Bekah Carr tied for 5th in the HJ (5'1"), Adam Green was 8th in the SP (44'1.5"), the Boys 4 x 800 relay was 5th (8:28.21 ), Autumn Brehm was 7th in the discus (99'10"), and the Girls 4x800 relay was 8th (10:43.27).
Qualifying to Friday's running finals were the Girls 4x200 and 4x100 relays, and Boys 4x200 and 4x400 relays. Individually, advancing to Friday's finals were Bekah Carr and Emily Jackson in the 100H, Emily and Alyssa Hoyng in the 300H, Stefan Chittum in the 300H, Megan Imwalle in the 200, Cole Mertz and Maddy Weininger in the 800.
Action begins at 4:00 on Friday, with the girls PV, SP and LJ, Boys D and HJ. At 5:00 the running finals begin.
