Bulldogs WIN 'Team' Championships
Friday, May 2 the Celina Track and Field contingent ventured to Logan County for participation in the Ben Logan Invitational. Twelve schools took part in the evening's competition. Buuldog depth to center stage as CHS scored in every every event, with 2 Dogs scoring in 23 of the 26 individual events. All but one of the 41 Celina athletes who took part contributed to the scoring. For their efforts, the Runnin' Bulldogs WON both the Boys and Girls 'Team' Titles. The Guys amassed 166.5 points, 76 more than runner-up Ben Logan. Grandview Heights was 3rd (87), with Bellefontaine (80) and Stebbins (73) rounding out the top 5. The Gals totaled 184, to GH's 115, Miami East's 90, Bellefontaine's 81, and BL's 65.
The Ladies picked up 8 first places finishes, with 1-2 placings in three events. Bekah Carr led the way with 4 individual wins. She teamed with Emily Jackson for the three 1-2 finishes. The duo took the top 2 spots in the PV, 100 hurdles, and 300 hurdles. Bekah's 4th win came in the long jump. In the pole vault Bekah shattered her own 'school record'. She literally raised the bar by 9" as she cleared 11'9". Bekah's previous best was 11', set a week earlier. Her efforts earned her the 'Female Athlete of the Meet'. The Runnin' Women also got WINS from Kendra Fennig in the 200 dash, Jenna Coon in the 3200 run, and the 4x100 (Kendra, Megan Imwalle, Alayna Webb, Kelly Moeder) and 4x200 relays (Kendra, Megan, Alayna, Alyssa Cisco).
The Boys WON only three events, but like the Gals multiple scorers in just about every event. Sam Phares took top spot in the pole vault, Jack Hinders in the long jump and Roman Mitchell, Jacob Gilstrap, Chad Downey, and Cole Mertz in the 4x800 relay. Stefan Chittum had a trio of runner-up placings, in the high jump, 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Eight times the CHS Men placed 2 guys in the top 4 of a given event.
Next up...the final dual meet of the season, at a very good Ottawa-Glandorf on Tuesday, May 6.
