Great Day for Diving Dogs at District!

FOUR DOGS TO 'STATE'!
Wednesday, February 12 Celina diving coach Dave Koesters and five of his Diving Dogs traveled to Oak Harbor for the Division II District Diving Championships. The top 9 placers at 'District' would earn a trip to next week's OHSAA State Diving Championship Meet in Canton. As has been the history of Celina Diving, Coach Koesters' divers represented the Green and White with excellence. For their efforts his five athletes earned 'State' births and a 'School Record'. Four of the five Celina Divers scored well enough to go to Canton, with the fifth, missing 'State' by 3.30 points.
The Ladies opened competition in the morning. Freshman Sawyer Weitzel not only WON the 'District' Champiomship, she also broke the Celina 'School Record' in scoring for 11-dives. Her point total of 375.15 was 8.25 higher than the previous record set on 2004. Close behind was senior Olivia Schlotterer (353.65) , who finished 3rd in the field of 27. Olivia is a veteran of 'State' competition. Sophomore Trinity Voisin (325.40) just missed out on a 'State' birth, placing 10th, 3.30 points from a top 9 finish.
For the Guys sophomore Chandler Kimmel (370.15) earned a trip to 'State' by virtue of his 4th place finish of the 25 competitors. As with the girls, the top 9 placers qualified to 'State'. Jake Browder claimed the final qualifying spot with his 9th place point total of 329.10.
'State' diving for Division II will take place Wednesday, Feb 19 at the C. T. Branin Natatorium in Canton. The. Boys dive at 9:00 AM, with the Girls at 2:00 P.M.
