Successful Day at the Mason Invitational for Bulldog Harriers!

Saturday, September 7 Celina's Runnin' Bulldogs made the 2-hour trip south to Mason for the Annual Mason CC Invitational. The meet continues to grow as about 3800 runners took part in the 12 race event. Celina ran in the Division II-III races for team competition, and in the 'All Division' Open races.
Action began with the Runnin' Women's 'Team' race for Division's II-III. Thirty schools (164 runners) competed for the 'Team' Title. Celina's Ladies had their best outing of the season as they finished 6th in the final standings. Five of the 7 Lady Dogs ran either season or career best times, led by Kendra Fennig. Kendra placed 24th in a season best time of 22:20, knocking :23 off her previous season best. Renee Robinson crossed in 29th with a season best 22:39, a :29 drop. Jenna Coon (34th, 22:48), Beth Garwood (36th, in a season best 22:58), Nicole Bowsher was 38th, in a career fastest 22:59 (a :44 second improvement) completed the five scoring runners. Breah Anderson was 77th in a career best 24:16, with Nicole Crites taking 87th in 24:39.
The Boys 'Team' race was next. The Celina Men competed well enough to finish 3rd of the 30 schools, just 13 points from a Division II-III championship. Cole Mertz had an outstanding day, as he worked his way through the 224 runner field to finish as race CHAMPION! He was about 25th at the 800m mark, 4th at the mile and #1 at the end, finishing in 16:56. Drew Donovan competed well finishing 11th, in 18:06. Jacob Gilstrap ran a season best 18:44 to take the 30th spot. Roman Mitchell was 39th in 19:07, and Michael Cron 42nd with a career best 19:12 to complete the Bulldog scoring. Nick Marks (56th, 19:12), and Chad Downey (57th, season best 19:30) wrapped up the varsity seven. Aaron Crites took 95th with a season best 20:15 and Dylan Gibbons crossed in 20:46, good for 125th.
In the Girls Open race, a whopping 638 ladies took the course. CHS was represented by Sarah Daniel who finished 163rd, in a season best 24:29. Daisha Elliott was 226th in 25:19, Audriana Adams took 233rd in a season best 25:21, Autumn Brehm finished 249th in 25:33, and Kenzie Fennig recorded a career best 25:46 good for 259th.
In the Boys 9-10 grade Open race, the Dogs had John Hoenie and Nathan Robinson. John was 113th of the 456 runners, in 20:39. Nathan tied his career best of 20:54 as he crossed in 128th.
The day finished with Luke Bowsher and Nathan Higgins, in the 11-12 grade Open race. Luke was 184th (22:34) and Nathan 206th of 277 harriers, hitting the line in 23:06.
