Runnin' Bulldogs compete at the Granville Inv.

Saturday morning, August 31 Celina's Cross-Country contingent made the 2:45 drive to Granville for participation in the Granville Invitational, on the grounds of the Bryn Du Mansion. Twenty-three schools took part, traversing the damp, 5000m circuit, running in hot, steamy conditions.
Five Celina women toed the line in the first race of the day, the H S Girls Open. Nicole Crites ran a personal best 24:29.3 to place 21st of the 173 competitors. She was followed by Autumn Brehm's season best 32nd place, 25:00.3. Daisha Elliott was 40th in 25:17, followed by Audi Adams' season best 51st in 26:01.2 and Kenzie Fennig's career best 61st, 26:18.5. The quintet placed 6th of 13 teams. Granville took the Open 'Team' title.
Six ladies ran the following race, Varsity Girls (all divisions). The six combined for an 11th place team result, of the 18 total scoring teams. Upper Arlington won the 'Team' race. Jenna Coon was once again CHS's number one finisher. She crossed in 42nd of the 154 finishers in a clocking of 22:19.1. Kendra Fennig was 60th in a season best 22:43.0. Renee Robinson finished 76 in 23:13.0. Rounding out the Celina six were Nicole Bowsher in 86th with a career fastest 23:44.3, Beth Garwood in 95th (24:07.2), and Breah Anderson in 107th (24:53.0).
Aaron Crites led five Bulldog guys in the H S Boys Open. He took 23rd of the 253 harriers with a season best 20:17.3. Nathan Robinson was 69th in 21:14.6, Dylan Gibbons 103rd in 21:51.2, Luke Bowsher 111th in 21:57.6, and Nathan Higgins 127th in a season best 22:13.6. The guys placed 9th of 13 complete teams.
Wrapping up the morning were the efforts of eight Dogs in the Varisty Boys (all divisions). The group ended 10th of 21 teams in the 'Team' competition. Cole Mertz was 'Top Dog' with an 11th pace result, crossing the line in 17:23.0. Drew Donovan ran well, taking 24th in a season best 17:54.6. Roman Mitchell and Jacob Gilstrap were 59th and 75th respectively, completing the course in 18:57.1 and 19:09.0. Nick Marks, in his first year of CC continues his improvement, as he ran a career best 19:22.8, earning 85th place. Michael Cron ran a season best 19:34.8 in placing 96th of the 190 finishers. Chad Downey was 108th (19:50.4), and John Hoenie 131st (21:51.2) to round out the Celina results.
Next up...at St Marys on Tuesday for a 3200m race in 'dual meet' format.
