Runnin' Bulldogs at District Meet!

DISTRICT ACTION FOR CELINA CC

Celina's Runnin' Bulldogs made a 2-hour drive to Galion Saturday, October 20 for participation in the Northwest Ohio, Division II, District CC Meet.  All of the D-II schools from NW Ohio took part in the 5 race event.  The Men were divided into two Districts, with the Girls in three Districts.  Regional qualifying spots were at stake.  The top four teams in each race as well as inidividuals not on a team placing in the top 16 earned advancement to Regional.

Celina's Men took the course in the District 2 race.  Eighteen schools, 111 runners, toed the line.  The Bulldogs recorded two personal best times in recording a 7th place team result.  Cole Mertz continued to lead the way for the Bulldogs.  He covered the 5000m distance in 16:37, which placed him 12th, good enough to earn a spot in the Tiffin Regional Meet on Oct. 27.  Drew Donovan crossed the line in 17:45, taking 33rd.  He was followed by Brandon Downey (18:08, 46th), Jacob Gilstrap (18:18, 54th), Roman Mitchell (career fastest 18:23, 56th), Zach Mitchell (18:40, 66th), and Chad Downey (career best 18:57, 75th).

The Ladies also competed in the District 2 race.  Thirteen teams took part, with the Runnin' Women finishing one spot form a regional birth, taking 5th.  Jenna Coon and Katlin Robinson finished 8th and 9th respectively of the 87 harriers, as the Ladies had their best 'team' effort of the season.  Jenna ran 20:30, Katlin a career best 20:39 (a :16 drop in time).  Both will run in the Tiffin Regional.  Kendra Fennig knocked :47 off her previous fastest time to place 22nd, in 21:33.  She was followed by Renee Robinson, a career fastest 22:02 (a :23 drop) in the 34th spot.  Beth Garwood (22:32, 42nd), Daisha Elliott (23:40, 65th), and Audriana Adams (24:20, 74th) rounded out the Celina varsity seven.
