Home » Track & Field NewsLizz Carr takes 3rd at State Meet in the High Jump!June 3, 2012 By Daniel Otten of Celina High SchoolState Championship Meet, Day 1. Lizz Carr - 3rd in the High Jump! 4 x 800 Relay of Michaela Wenning, Emily Dorsten, Bekah Carr, Hannah Fleck - 4th! Celina's Runnin' Women began State Track & Field Championship action Friday morning and afternoon (6/1) at the Ohio State University's Jesse Owens Stadium. The CHS Ladies', participating in the Division II, competed in hurdle and sprint relay running prelims as well as in the long jump and 4 x 800 relay finals. Senior Lizz Carr got the day started on a high note as she overcame rain (heavy at times), chilly temperatures, and wind to earn 'First Team All Ohio' honors by placing 3rd in the high jump. Lizz cleared her first three heights without a miss to claim the 6 'Team Points' and third step on the podium. She improved on her 7th place result from a year ago. The running events began in the afternoon with the 4 x 800 relay final. CHS finished 8th in 2011 and hoped to improve on the placing in 2012...and the quartet of Michaela Wenning, Emily Dorsten, Bekah Carr, and Hannah Fleck did just that. The foursome covered the 3200 meter distance in 9:37.63, crossing the line as the 4th best relay in the State. The 5 relay points, added to the high jump points gives CHS 11 after the first day, good for 3rd in the overall 'Team' standings. Liberty-Benton is on top with 15, followed by Akron Saint Vincent-St Marys' 14. In the running prelims, all of CHS's entrants advanced to Saturday's finals. Lexi Mills advanced in both the 100 and 300 hurdles. The 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 relays also earned the right to run another day. Action begins Saturday for the Runnin' Women as Gina Strable takes the long jump runway at 9:00 AM. Running finals begin at 1:00 with Lexi in the 100 hurdles. Also scheduled to compete are the 4 x 200 relay, Lexi in the 300 hurdles, Hannah in the 800, and the 4 x 400 relay. COMPLETE DAY ONE RESULTS http://www.baumspage.com/ohsaa/tf/2012/g2.htm
