Girls complete 'Day 1' of Fostoria Division II District!

GIRLS 4 x 800 RELAY WINS!

LIZZ CARR advances to Regional!

Tuesday, May 15 was the first day of the OHSAA Forstoria Division II Distrct Track and Field Meet.  At District competitions throughout the state athletes will compete for Regional births which go to the top 4 finishers in each event of the respective Districts.  At Fostoria on Tuesday, event finals were competed in the high jump, shot put, and 4 x 800 relay.  Prelims were held in all sprints, hurdles, and sprint relays, with the top 8 times to advancing to Friday's finals.  Celina's Runnin' Women, fresh off their Western Buckeye League Championship had an excellent 'Day 1'.

The Ladies began the afternoon with a District Championship WIN in the 4 x 800 relay.  Michaela Wenning, Emily Dorsten, Bekah Carr, and Hannah Fleck covered the distrance in 9:42.11 to take the event by 13.44 seconds.  The win advances the quartet to the Lexington Regional on May 24.  Moments later Lizz Carr placed 2nd in the HJ with a claerance of 5' 4" to advance to Lexington.  Michaela, just missed a trip to Regional as she placed 5th in the event (5' 0").  In the shot put Katie Sutter earned 6th place points with a put of 34' 10".

In the running prelims CHS advanced two ladies in the 100 hurdles, 400 dash, 300 hurdles, with one moving on in the 200 and all three relays.

Finals in the PV, LJ, Discus and running events will be Friday, May 18, beginning at 4:00 with the field events.

The Celina Guys are at the Division I meet in Tiffin on Wednesday, May 16 and 18.
