BGSU District Qualifiers announced! Saturday, February 11 Celina's Waterdogs took part in the OHSAA D-II Napoleon Sectional at Napoleon High School. Competitors competed for spots in next week's BGSU D-II District Meet. On Saturday only the winner of each event was guaranteed a spot at District. The remaining 28 individual slots and 20 relay positions to District are chosen as at-large entrants, based on the rankings of the four contributing Sectionals for NW Ohio. The OHSAA posted official qualifiers Sunday, Feb 12 declaring 10 individual Celina Swimmers along with five relays as District participants. Celina advances 5 relays; Girls 200 medley, 200 free, 400 free, Boys 200 medley and 200 free. Individually six Swimmin' Women look to move on. Lizz Carr is the only automatic female to advance as she captured the 100 breast. Brooke Mertz (50 free), Michaela Wenning (50 free and 100 free), Paige Dorsten (50 free and 100 back), Kandace Eichenauer (100 breast), and Alex parker (100 fly) also advanced. For the Guys, Matt Feltz (100 free) and Tyus Temple (100 fly) each earned automatic bids by winning their events. Matt also made it in the 100 fly. Peyton Jones (50 free and 100 back), and Kasyn Fishbaugh (100 breast) will swim on. Along with the swimmers, eight CHS Diving Dogs will begin tournament action at the District Level (no Sectional for dive). Many CHS Waterdogs completed their seasons with personal best results. Please check the COMPLETE RESULTS for details. District participants will look to qualify to the State Championship Meet in Canton. State qualifying procedure: Top 2 finishers in each District are automatic, with 16 at-large qualifiers based on District times. In diving the top 11 boys and 10 girls from BG will advance. In the 'team' scoring the Swimmin' Women placed 3rd of 14 teams, behind host Napoleon and Ottawa-Glandorf. The Guys were 4th, behind Napoleon, OG, and Bowling Green.
