Eleven Bulldog Tracksters advance to Regional!

The Tiffin Division I District Track and Field meet concluded Friday evening with outstanding results and efforts from the Celina Tracksters. By meet's end 11 CHS athletes advanced to Regional, representing the Green and White in 14 events. The Runnin' Women will particpate in the Amherst Regional while the Men travel to the Pickerington North Regional. Both meets take place Wednesday and Friday, May 27 and 29.
On Wednesday Lizz Carr (HJ - 5' 0"), Todd Hertel (PV - 14' 3"), and Tom Burden (PV - 13' 6") earned the right to perform next week. On Friday the Dogs has a number of superior performances. Cayla Hellwarth, Mitch Williams, and Aaron Snyder got things started, as the threesome qualified to Regional in field events with three personal bests. Cayla  established a NEW SCHOOL RECORD in the pole vault as she WON the District with a vault of 10' 3". Mitch  , in only his fourth high jump event of his career, leaped 6' 1" to take third (the top 4 in each event advanced ). Aaron  came through in the discus finals with a career best 156' 6", to finish third.
The running events provided more excellence from the Dogs. Caleb Fickert, Hannah Fleck and the Ladies 4 x 400 relay all claimed DISTRICT TITLES, and Regional births! Caleb  WON the 400m dash in a career best 51.40. Hannah  crossed the line FIRST in the 800m run with a clocking of 2:17.65, a :07 improvement on her previous best. The Ladies 4 x 400 relay consisting of Lexi Mills, Kelsey Waterman  , Cayla Hellwarth, and Hannah Fleck, ran a season best 4:02.12 in WINNING, continuing a rich tradition of 4 x 400 excellence. Andrew Goodwin (4:21.91) and Mitch Williams (4:22.34) ran the 2nd and 3rd fastest 1600m runs in CHS history as they placed 3rd and 4th respectively, in the race. Andrew  eased at the end to save energy for the upcoming 3200m run, in which he took second (9:43.08). Lexi Mills  will compete in both hurdle races (100IH and 300LH) at Amherst as she took 3rd in the 100's (16.75) and 4th in the 300's (46.64).
Peter Starnes and Andrea Bell competed at their best, scoring in the 3200m run. Both athletes ran career fastest times as they placed 6th and 5th respectively. Peter covered the eight laps in 10:12.24. Andrea just missed a Regional birth as she ran 12:06.46. Also taking part on Friday were Alex Parker and Kayla Fortkamp. Alex tied for 11th in the PV with a height of 8' 0". Kayla finished 13th in the SP with a 'put' of 29' 11.5".
Although the Dogs sent only nine males and nine females to the District Meet, the Men placed 5th in the team scoring, with the Women taking 6th of the 14 schools participating.
