BASEBALL COACH - Jason Thompson

Coach Jason Thompson graduated from Avon High School in 1998. While at Avon, he played football for three years and baseball for four years.  Coach Thompson graduated from IUPUI in 2002 with a Physical Education degree with a minor in Health and Safety Education.

He started his coaching career at age 19, while in college, as an assistant coach for the Avon Junior Athletic Association 11-year old and 12-year old baseball All-Star team.  At 21 he became the head coach of Avon’s 13/14-year old summer baseball travel team.  Coach Thompson did his student teaching at Cascade High School and Cascade Middle School and in 2003 he was hired by Mill Creek Schools to teach physical education and health at Cascade High School and Cascade Middle School.  In 2006 Coach Thompson became the Junior Varsity baseball coach at Cascade High School, and was selected as the Head Varsity Baseball Coach the following year.  For the past five years Coach Thompson has led the Cadets to an 83-51 record.  In 2010 the Cadets won their first conference championship in 29 years.

In 2012 the Cadets look to rebound from a sub-par season in 2011. They will be led by seven seniors. The Cadets’ goals for 2012 are to get better every day and to compete for a conference and sectional title.

Coach Thompson is married to Tiffany Smith Thompson, a stand-out athlete who graduated from Cascade High School in 2002. Tiffany is a high school teacher at Mooresville Consolidated Schools. They are blessed with two children - Trey (6) and Cassie (4).
