Home » Boys' Swimming & Diving NewsBoys Swim Team Season Gets UnderwayNovember 11, 2011 Cascade High SchoolThe Cascade Boys swimming team began the season on November 7th. The team looks to improve from last year and wants to claim some individual champions at the West Central Conference Meet. Coach Williams is disappointed in the turnout but pleased with the swimmers that are in the water. “As a coach you understand that it takes numbers to put yourself in a position to win a lot of meets and to work toward championships. The numbers we have don’t lend toward those goals, we are missing some swimmers that have elected to pursue other ventures this season. That being said the 12 swimmers and divers we do have are high quality. I can assure you that they will make every team work to out swim us.”
This year’s team is a young team with 1 senior and 3 juniors. Senior Saxton Archer along with Junior Kyle Trent will assume the diving duties and fill in for some relay work. Look for swimmers Jesse Gilmore, Cole Dugan, Drake Whicker and Alex Cecil to carry the load for the cadets. “These are very good swimmers, they work hard and I think they will produce some great times this year. This group will be producing conference champions this season.” Coach Williams also liked the freshman group. “This is going to be a transitional year for them. They are already trying to adjust from middle school practice sets to our practice sets. These young men have really setup up and accepted the challenge and they will have an immediate impact on this team.” I really expect great things from Jason Franchville, Alex VanWinkle, Zane Hansen, Michael Pence and Alexander Mahan.” The season opener is November 29th when the boys travel to Plainfield for a dual meet with the Quakers.
