Girls Golf Update
August 20, 2013By David Smyth of Cascade High School
The Lady Cadets ended a busy streak of 4 matches in 5 days with mixed results. After outdueling Edgewood on Wednesday, they welcomed WCC rival Greencastle to Deer Creek for their first home match. The Cadets successfully defended their home turf by defeating the Tiger Cubs by a score of 220-229. Balanced scoring was the theme of the day as scores were Sage Archer and Shelby Baldwin 54, Mary Tomblin 55, and Maureen Flanigan 57.
On Saturday, the Cadets traveled to The Links Golf Course to play in the New Palestine Invitational. The Cadets had a rough outing playing on a long and challenging layout, proved by only one team breaking the 400 scoring mark. Mary Tomblin led the Cadets with a 112.

On Monday, Cascade had an opportunity to bounce back as they hosted Brownsburg and Danville at Deer Creek. The girls played their best match to date as they set a season low score as well as three individuals setting personal low marks. Mary Tomblin (48), Shelby Baldwin (51), and Alyssa Gowan (53) all recorded their career best 9-hole match score; rounding out the scoring was another good score by Sage Archer with a 53. The Cadets, however, could not keep pace with Brownsburg, who totaled a 185; but easily out distanced Danville which finished with a 239.
The Lady Cadets Golf Team has a rare opportunity to practice for 4 straight days before competing in the Western Boone Invitational on Saturday.
Dual Record: 3-1
