Hendricks County Swimming & Diving Championship Meet Results

The Cascade boys and girls Swimming and Diving team competed at the Hendricks County Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday at Avon High School. The final team score for the girls was Avon 414 Brownsburg 265 Plainfield 258 Cascade 116 TriWest 110 Danville 97. The final score for the boys was Avon 412 Brownsburg 304 Plainfield 183 Danville 141 TriWest 127 Cascade 95
The Cascade team had 9 podium finishes (top 8) 1 New School Record & 17 Personal Best times.
Coach Williams said that this was his team best performance of the year “Our kids had outstanding performance after performance today. Our Divers were awesome and our swimmers raced the competition better than they have all year”. Coach Cozart noted that both the girls and guys team is really believing in themselves “Our kids are getting up on the blocks with confidence, they are swimming and diving with confidence and we see that in the times they are posting. This was a “get after it” day for our team and they delivered.
Swimmers and Divers that had podium finished at the meet were Kyle Trent (4th diving) Kate Breedlove (8th diving) Regina Solik (3rd 50 free) Tori Breeding (8th 200 free & 8th 500 free) Jesse Gilmore (8th 200 free & 8th 500 free) Hayley Rosales (8th 100 fly) Alex Van Winkle (8th 100 fly).
According to Coach Williams the personal bests are the best indicator of the team’s progress. “We really look at how the kids are improving, everyone has a bad meet here and there but when your entire team is dropping time then you know that your team is focused and confident “.
Swimmers that had personal best times at the meet were Alex VanWinkle (100 fly) Alyssa Bruce(200 & 500 free) Autumn Holden (100 breastroke) Chasity Keegan (50 free) Gabriela Balzano (200 free) Griffin Crum(200 & 500 free) Haily Ferguson(200 IM & 100 backstroke) Hayley Rosales (200 IM) Houston Fox(100 free) Jaira Gibson(100 breaststroke) Jesse Gilmore(200 free & 500 free) Spencer Berlin(50 free) Tarah Thornburg(100 backstroke).
The final event for the girls was the record setting 400 freestyle relay of Kristi Deweese (Freshman) Hayley Rosales (Sophomore) Tori Breeding(Junior) Regina Solik(Senior) The previous record of 4:06.19 was crushed when the ladies put up a time of 4:01.47
The teams now begin to prepare for the West Central Conference Swimming and Diving Championship meet on January 5th. According to the coach, the swimmers and divers will be ready. “We have three weeks to prepare for one meet. Our kids know the importance of that day and that one meet, they will be ready to light it up”.
