Cadet Lady Swimmers end evening in a tie
December 4, 2012Cascade High School
It doesn’t happen often but Monday night the girls ended the evening in a tie with South Vermillion. The final score for the meet was Cascade 137 S Vermillion 137 Intl School 22. Monday nights meet was a battle for every event. Going into the final relay the girls needed a win and a third place to tie the score and that is exactly what happened. “The girls swam hard tonight, each event was a battle and for the most part the ladies responded” stated a happy Coach Williams. He also noted that the girls have been fighting the cold and flu over the last two weeks and most of the girls are just now getting back up to speed. “I didn’t see the speed across the board that we are accustom to and I think in large part it is due to colds that our kids have been fighting. That being said we did have some great swims by Alexis Brown in the 100 backstroke and Kristi Deweese in the 50 and 100 freestyle.”
The girls posted several personal best times and are improving at a pace that coach Williams is pleased with. “We put a lot of pressure on the girls tonight and put them in some pressure filled races and situations. I felt they responded better than expected and as this team moves forward they will be better prepared for the big meets down the road”.
The ladies will be back in action Thursday when they travel to Danville for a dual meet with the warriors.
