Boys Score Upset Win over South Vermillion & Intl School

December 4, 2012
Cascade High School

The Cascade boys swim & dive team found a way to score an upset win over International School and South Vermillion Monday night.  The final score for the meet was Cascade 116 S Vermillion 113 Intl School 26.  The boys’ team is made up of 9 swimmers and faced a much larger S. Vermillion team.  Coach Williams explained that numbers are not the big advantage in three way meets “South Vermillion had a two to 1 advantage in the numbers but in a three way meet each team only gets two swimmers and that evens things up a little”.

The boys were led by seniors Kyle Trent and Jesse Gilmore.  Kyle won the diving competition while Jesse brought home first place finishes in the 200 free and the 500 free.  Cole Dugan added his name to the top finishers list in the 100 breaststroke.  The Cadets also won the three relays.  Coach Williams was happy with the guy’s performance.  “I tell people that I only have 9 swimmers, but they are 9 great swimmers.  These guys just refused to lose tonight and they kept finding ways to score points.  These guys are like the Band of Brothers, they look out for each other and they never give up, they just believe they can win every event and win every meet”.

The Cadets look to continue the wins as they travel to Danville on Thursday night for a dual meet against the warriors.
