GIRLS BEAT BEECH GROVE 122-52 IN OPENER

November 16, 2012
Cascade High School

The Cascade lady swimmers opened the season with a strong performance in a 122-52 win over Beech Grove.  The ladies won 11 of 12 events including a top 3 sweep in the 200 freestyle.  During the meet the cadets established three new school records and tied another.  Tori Breeding posted the new marks in the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle with times of 2:11.07 and 6:03.30 respectively.   Regina Solik tied the 2010 50 freestyle record held by Shalyn Eckols with a time of 25.47.  Regina later put her name in the record books for the 100 freestyle by posting a time of 58.13.  Others that posted first place finishes were Hayley Rosales in the 200 IM and 100 Butterfly, Sage Archer in the Diving and Gabriela Balzano in the 100 Breastroke.

Coach Williams was optimistic with the results.  “I think our girls did a nice job tonight.  It is exciting to see records fall and goals achieved.  Coach Cozart has the girls very well prepared and overall I liked the way we swam tonight.” The coach also noted that some of the night’s individual performances were very encouraging.  “Alyssa Bruce had two great swims tonight knocking off 5 seconds in the 200 free and 22 seconds in the 500 free from her personal best times.  She is improving with every practice and is going to be a force before the season is out.”

The ladies don’t have much time to rest as they host the Mooresville Pioneers and Brownsburg Bulldogs on Tuesday the 20th.
