Girls Getting Ready for WCC

September 6, 2012
By David Smyth of Cascade High School

The Cadets took to the links twice this week and were finally able to field a full team once again.   The first match was against Plainfield on Tuesday at Oak Tree and the Cadets were short handed once again.  The Quakers shot a team score of 181 while the Cadets just played three.  Jessica Smyth was match medalist with a 39, Sage Archer showed improvement with a 54 and Shelby Baldwin rounded out the scoring with a 70.

On Thursday, the Cadets co-hosted a four team match with Monrovia, also competing were Cloverdale and Owen Valley.  It was the first time the Cadets were able to post a team score in some time and they put forth their best effort of the year.  Jessica Smyth once again led the scoring with a 35, Sage Archer played to a personal best of 49, Shelby Baldwin scored a 61, and the team welcomed back Maureen Flanigan (was out with a concussion), she shot 62.  The team totaled a 207 and that score was good enough for 2nd place.  The Cadets will compete again on Saturday with the WCC title on the line.  Tee times start at 11:00am.

Monrovia    195

CASCADE   207

Cloverdale    209

Owen Valley    227
