Apex sweeps Cary tennis

CARY - Apex's boys tennis team may not feature a state champion on its roster as it did a year ago with Wesley Barrett, who graduated. But team tennis matches are won with depth.And Apex coach Steve Spivey, a 33-year coaching veteran who came out of retirement this year, liked his Cougars roster from top to bottom after shutting out Cary 9-0 in a March 9 match at Godbold Park.
"Everyone is really playing well," Spivey said. "They're solid one through six. We don't have a big drop off in talent. We stair-step down. They all have good tennis skills."
