Two with Cary ties honored

February 3, 2011
Cary High School

Guy Mendenhall and Carolyn Shannonhouse worked together as Cary High's athletics director and girls basketball coach in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

On April 12, the two will be linked once again as they will get to be inducted into the North Carolina Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame along with longtime New Hanover athletics director Joe Miller.

The induction will take place at the NCADA's 40th annual conference at the Wilmington Hilton Riverside.

Shannonhouse was a coach at Cary before joining the NCHSAA staff as an assistant director, overseeing women's sports.

Mendenhall, who coached at Enloe before taking AD duties at Cary, served 16 years as Cary's athletics director and remains involved with the school.
