April 5 & 7 - Cary vs. Panther Creek and Cary vs. Fuquay-Varina

Well, we came back from spring break a different team.  To be honest, we played well against Sanderson just before the break, but the score didn't really show it.  Against Panther Creek on Monday, we moved the ball quite well, shored up the defense a bit, and kept the score at 0-0 for the majority of the game.  Two second half goals led to a 2-0 loss, but we played the best game of the year up until that point. 

The real change came versus Fuquay-Varina on Wednesday, April 7, when we were able to put it together on the attacking end of the field.  We scored three goals, by three different goal scorers, CeCe Risk, Samantha Bagherpour, and Nikki Hoff to take the 3-2 win.  It was good to see us taking shots that we would have passed up earlier this season.  A good example was Nikki Hoff's blast from 45 yards out in the second half.  We also took on more in the front third.  Kristen Puryear was a handful for our opponent as she found her way into their penalty box several times and was taken down for a penalty kick.  It was good to see the confidence of freshman Samantha Bagherpour as she walked straight up the to ball, picked it up, put it on the penalty spot and without hesitation, calmly struck it into the back of the net.  MacKenzie Williams was solid for us in the nets to help preserve the victory.
