Cary Women's Soccer in the news

Both the Head Coach and the team of Cary High School Women's Varsity Soccer made the headlines this past December.


The team was recognized for having exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2011-12 academic year, while Head Coach Laura Kerrigan was recognized by the NSCAA.


Two WCPSS soccer teams honored for academics

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has honored two Wake County high school girl soccer teams for academics.

Cary High and Wake Forest-Rolesville High students were among 225 teams nationwide honored for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2011-12

academic year.

Kerrigan, Gallimore and Walls All Recognized with NSCAA Special Awards

NSCAA National Academy Staff member Laura Kerrigan, the University of Washington’s head women’s coach Lesle Gallimore and former Centre College’s (Ky.) women’s player Heather Walls are all being recognized for their accomplishments on and off the field.

 

Kerrigan has been awarded the Mike Berticelli Excellence in Coaching Education award, Gallimore named the Women’s Committee Award of Excellence winner and Walls earning the Jerry Yeagley Award for Exceptional Personal Achievement.

 

The three will be recognized at the 2013 Convention. Kerrigan will receive her award at the NSCAA Awards Banquet, Friday, Jan. 18. Gallimore will accept her award at the annual Women’s Breakfast, Saturday, Jan. 19 , and Walls will be presented her award Saturday afternoon at the All-America Luncheon.
