When Brandon Dillon tipped in a missed shot at the buzzer for a 59-58 Carroll victory over Taylor, it was the second buzzer-beating win of the night for the elated home crowd. The Cougars also won the junior varsity game when Derik Caldwell hit a layup off a well designed inbounds play to defeat the Titans by a point.

Taylor enjoyed its only lead of the fourth quarter, 58-57, with only :38 to go when Challen Hodson hit a 3-pointer fon the left corner. Carroll missed a three point attempt then fouled the Titans with just  :09 left. Carroll rebounded when Taylor missed the front end of a 1-and-1 and quickly called time-out with :09 still showing on the clock.

The Cougars had to take the ball out under Taylor's basket. Brady Wiles wasted no time getting the ball down the floor and found Eric Miller in the right corner. Miller drove to the basket, getting off an awkward shot that skidded off the front of the rim. Dillon tipped the ball in and the home crowd rushed the floor to celebrate the Cougars 12th win of the season to go along with 8 losses.

"Give Taylor a lot of credit," first-year Carroll coach Matt Weaver said. "They are a heck of a blue-collar team that keeps coming at you. "[Eric] Miller got a good drive on the basket and drew a lot of attention to him, setting up [Brandon] Dillon's tip in."

The Titans found themselves fighting back from a deficit all night. Taylor never led in the first half, trailing 17-9 at the first stop and 33-26 at half-time. The much larger Cougars kept them at bay with a 19-8 first half rebounding advantage.

"I couldn't be prouder of this team," Taylor coach Andy Lewman said. "we have a very strong-willed group of young men who never back down, no matter what teh situation. We had a very good week of practice and all of our kids did a nice job carrying that over from practice to the game. It was just unfortunate that thing unfolded the way they did at the end of the game."

A 7-0 run to open the second half drew Taylor even at 33-all. The Titans got their first lead of the night when Latrell Mitchell grabbed an offensive rebound and made a bucket to put Taylor on top 37-36 midway through the third. The Titans clung to a 41-40 lead after three quarters,  but Carroll started the 4th quarter with it's own 7-0 run to put the Titans back in a hole. Taylor still trailed 57-51 with 1:23 to go, but they fought back once again, nearly pullin off and unlikely victory.

Hodson led the 5-15 Titans with 17 points, hitting 5 pf 8 three point shots. Coach Lewman cited the inspired play of Mitchell who schored 15 and Logan Barnes added 12.

Sophomore Jarin Bush paced the Cougars with 22 points and Dillon scored 10. Miller had just 7 points but contributed 10 rebounds and eight assists.
