Carroll is HHC Runner-Up, Leonard win 2nd Conference Title

The Carroll wrestling team took second in the Hoosier Heartland Conference meet held Saturday at Clinton Central. All nine wrestlers finished in the top three of their weight class with six in the finals and three finishing in third place.

Bradley Leonard with his 25-0 season record claimed his second conference championship at 138 pounds. Other Cougar champions were Nick Gamel at 152 and Gavin Hancock at 160.

Runners-up were Tallis Bowers at 170, Anthony Pickett at 145, and Dakota Underwood at 126.

Third place finishers were Alex Plank at 285, Zach Turnpaugh at 182, and Colten Carmack at 132.

“I am happy with the way our wrestlers competed,” head coach Ladd Kitchel said. “It feels like they are peaking at the right time to be successful at the Lafayette Jeff sectional this Saturday."
