Cougars Drop Braves

Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School The Carroll Lady Cougars improved to 8 wins against 2 losses with a home win against the Maconaquah Lady Braves. Once again it was Carroll's defense that sparked the victory. Carroll's opponents' are averaging just 35 points per game which now ranks them 48th in the state for defensive average. Carroll's defense forced 24 Maconaquah turnovers. Deflections' are the key to causing turnovers and Kaitlin Ragan led the way with 11 deflections, Makayla Jackson had 8, and Carly Kingery picked up 6. The Lady Cougars were led by Kaitlin Ragan with 12 points. Gabbie Evans came off the bench and provided a huge defensive spark as she had 3 blocks, a steal, 4 deflections and 5 rebounds. When the Lady Braves took a brief lead in the fourth quarter Paige Spesard quickly put the Lady Cougars back in the lead with a basket in the lane and then a hard fought offensive rebound basket. Libby Eller pitched in 6 points, 3 assists and 3 steals. The Lady Cougars return to action Saturday in the Carroll Classic against University in the 9am game
