Blazevich Returns Two Kickoffs for Scores in Loss to Edon

Cardinal Stritch's Michael Blazevich returned two kickoffs for scores Friday night at Edon.  The first, a 66 yard return, got the Cardinals on the scoreboard early in the second quarter.  The second return of 68 yards came midway through the third quarter to keep the Cardinals in the game.  Michael had 158 return yards on the night.

Later in the second quarter Mack Schwamberger blocked a Bomber punt which Joe Sinay scooped up and returned for a Cardinal touchdown.  This score pulled the Cardinals within a touchdown 20-14 as Kyle Hatfield added the extra points, four on the evening.

Schwamberger later added a fourth quarter touchdown run of 20 yds. to finish the scoring for Cardinal Stritch.

Three different quarterbacks completed passes for the Cardinals.  Starter Michael Blazevich was 5 of 8 for 78 yards.  Sophomore Brooks Gasser completed two passes for 36 yards.  Freshman Christopher Blazevich completed his only attempt for 16 yards to J.J. Dickens.  The Cardinals were a combined 8 of 14 for 125 yards on the night.

Leading receiver for Cardinal Stritch was Zach Denomy with 3 for 38 yards.  Also making catches were Mack Schwamberger, Owen Daniels, J.J. Dickens, Jake Halcomb and Joe Sinay.

The Cardinals leading ball carrier was Denomy with 79 yds. followed by Schwamberger with 45 yds.  Julius Nunez, Seth Kebker, Christian Peters, Owen Daniels, and Michael Blazevich all had carries. The Cardinal ball carriers gained 143 on 37 carries.

Defensively, the secondary lead the way in tackles with Michael Blazevich, Zach Denomy and Mack Schwamberger all having 8.

The Cardinals return home for their final home game on Saturday night when they take on the Hilltop Cadets on Senior Night at Clay.
