Home » Girls' Basketball NewsLady Cards Beat LakersFebruary 2, 2013 Cardinal Stritch Catholic High SchoolThe Lady Cardinals returned to "The Nest" Thursday evening for an important TAAC encounter with the Lady Lakers of Danbury. The evening was hightlighted by the parents of the Lady Cardinal Basketball Program surprising the JV and Varsity teams with "Fathead" pictures of each member. The Lady Cardinals seem to feed off the gesture and jumped out to a 13-9 first quarter lead. Shaking off the rust from Monday evenings performance against St.Wendelin they responded with a 26-22 lead at the half. Second half action saw more of the same as the Lady Cardinals outscored Danbury 24-12 and flew to a 50-34 victory. The Lady Cardinals converted on 20 of 25 free throws. Senior Abby Mass made 13 of 15 attempts to cap a tremendous 26 point effort. Freshman Maggie Merren and Junior Caty Rieker chipped in 9 and 6 points. Sophomore Cecelia Gozdowski (5), Freshman Kali Hardy (3), and Senior Hannah Tucker (1) rounded out the Lady Cardinal attack.
