Cardinals Fall In Fourth
January 3, 2013Cardinal Stritch Catholic High School
The Cardinal boys varsity basketball team fell to Otsego (7-1) by the score of 73-63 and fall to 3-4 overall on the season. The Cardinals played a very good overall game and led by 6 with 4 minutes to go in the game. The inexperience of the young Cardinals proved to be the downfall as they turned the ball over 4 straight times late in the 4th quarter and Otsego capitalized on the mistakes to come away with a hard fought win. The Cardinals have shown much improvement, but they must be more consistent on defense and take care of the ball late in games. This will allow the team to finish out the game when they are in position to win.
The Cardinals were led by Austin Adams with 22pts, followed by Joey Cousino 18pts, and chipping in with 11pts with 3- 3pointers was Robbie Bekier. Rounding out the scoring was Brooks Gasser with 7, Jacob Empie 3 and Karl Zacharias with 2. The Cardinals next home game is Saturday January 5th against Danbury.
The JV team lost a heartbreaker to Otsego 37-32 to fall to 3-4. They were led by Bobby Romstadt's 9pts and Eddie Uher's 8pts.
The Freshman dropped to 2-5 with a 28-18 loss to Otsego. The Freshman were led by Adam Bruckner's 7pts. Even though the freshman team has a losing record they have showen much improvement even with their tough schedule (St. John's & Central Cathloic twice each). This should only make them better and more prepared for the coming years.
