Lady Cardinals Fall To Vikings Late

The Lady Cardinals took to the road for a non-conference battle with the Lady Vikings of Evergreen. Both teams battled in the first half trading baskets. After a 10-10 tie in the first quarter, the Lady Cardinals took a 27-24 lead into the halftime break. The second half saw the Lady Cardinals not capitalizing on numerous fast break opportunities and failing to take care of the basketball, which resulted in a 3 point deficit after three quarters.

The Lady Cardinals continued to battle the Lady Vikings throughout the fourth quarter and had the ball with 8 seconds left, down by 3 points and an oppotunity to tie the game, but a late turnover resulted in a Lady Viking layup and a 51-46 setback for the Lady Cardinals. Senior Abby Mass lead all scorers with 17 points, followed by Sophomore Cecelia Gozdowski's 11 points. Senior Hannah Tucker came off the bench to knock down two 3-pointers for 6 points. Junior Caty Rieker added 6 points. Freshman Kali Hardy played a strong floor game contributing 4 points, while Freshman Maggie Merren had 2 points to close out the Lady Cardinal attack.

The Lady Cardinals return to "The Nest" on Friday January 4th for a conference battle with rival Northwood. That night finds the Lady Cardinals' Freshman playing Central Catholic at 4:30, with the Junior Varsity and Varsity games with Northwood to follow.
