The Cardinal Freshman basketball team had a rough  start to the season. They opened up with two fine veteran programs, losing the opener on Friday Dec. 7th to Toledo Christian by the score of 32-9, then lost the next day to Central Catholic High School 71-14. They played hard and competed in both games.

 

The J.V. Cardinal team also opened up with Toledo Christian and were defeated 47-22. Leading the way were Bobby Romstadt and Joey Sinay with 8pts. each.

 

The Varsity Cardinal team lost 62-45 to Toledo Christian. The Cardinals found themslves behind the whole game and could not come up with the big play to get over the hump. They had a good start to the game but could not keep up the momentum and fell behind at the half. The Cardianls played a very good second half and were only outscored by 2pts in that half but it was not enough for them to overcome the first half deficit. The Cardinals were led by Austin Adams 26pts. and 9 rebounds. Joey Cousino chipped in with 7pts. and 5 rebounds. Robbie Bekier played a very good all around game.
