Home » Girls' Basketball NewsLady Cardinals Win Home OpenerNovember 30, 2012 Cardinal Stritch Catholic High SchoolThe Lady Cardinals welcomed the Lady Rebels of Bowsher to "The Nest" for a non conference encounter. The young Lady Cardinals put on a good show for the home crowd as they displayed their ability to play better defense and ran the floor with better focus. The Cardinals opened the first quarter with a 13-8 lead and entered the lockerroom at half holding a 22-17 lead. The Lady Cardinals maintained their advantage thru the third quarter as both teams traded baskets leaving the home team up 37-32 after three quarters. The Cardinals controlled the tempo in the fourth quarter outscoring their opponent 14-7 for a 51-39 victory, claiming their first non conference win in three years. Senior Abby Mass topped all scorers with 21 points. Freshman Maggie Merren chipped in 9 points. Sophomore Cecelia Gozdowski contributed 8 points and 14 rebounds. Junior Caty Rieker played a fine floor game adding 6 points. Freshman Kali Hardy added 5 points, Junior Rosa Mondragon contributed 2 points to close out the scoring. The Lady Cardinals travel to Toledo Christian on Thursday 12/6 for their TAAC opener, JV start at 6, Varsity to follow.
