JV star, Empie, hits and pitches Stritch to 6-3 victory

An impressive two-way performance from Jacob Empie led Stritch to a 6-3 win Thursday over Ottawa Hills, as Empie came up huge at the dish and on the rubber.

Empie went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for Stritch. He singled in the first, third, and sixth innings.

Empie worked out of four tricky spots for Stritch. He pitched three innings and allowed no earned runs on two hits. Empie faced his most difficult moment in the sixth inning.

Ricky Pratt recorded the win for Stritch. He allowed three runs over four innings. The Stritch pitcher struck out three, walked five and surrendered four hits.

Stritch got one-run rallies in the fourth inning and the sixth. In the fourth, Stritch scored on a groundout by Chris Blazevich, bringing home Josh Shefferly.

Stritch didn't relinquish the lead after scoring four runs in the fifth inning when it scored on a fielder's choice and two singles.
