Home » Girls' Basketball NewsLady Tigers Fall to O'HaraFebruary 12, 2013 By Bob Rickman of Warrensburg Girls BasketballWarrensburg was able to dominate O'Hara in several statisical categories on Friday night as they hosted the Lady Celtics. But the most important one was the scoreboard, they fell short dropping the contest 41-38 to the West Central Conference leader. The Lady Tigers had fewer turnovers, shot better at the free throw line, and out rebounded O'Hara, but field goal percentage ended up being the difference. "The girls played hard tonight, and we played a good game, you have to feel good when you can have less turnovers, more rebounds, and have a better night at the free throw line than your opponent," Warrensburg Coach Bob Rickman said. "But the difference was O'Hara did a better job hitting the shots they needed to throughout the game." The Lady Celtics were unable to make a free throw in the first three quarters, but in the fourth the team made 4 - 8 from the line to hold on to a three point victory. The free throw line was the one area of shooting that worked well for the Lady Tigers, as they made 10-13 from the line. With under 11 seconds in the game the Lady Tigers gained possesssion, but with no timeouts had to run a play, and the Taylor Geis shot was tipped and O'Hara gained sole possession of first place in the WCC with the Smith-Cotton loss to Center. Taylor Geis scored 15 for the Lady Tigers, and Jessica Tiller contributed 12 points on the night.
