Bulldog BroadcastingThe Kearney girls varsity basketball team opened the season on the road at St. Joe Central Monday.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 19-5 first quarter lead and never looked back enroute to a 49-24 victory.
Meagan Paul led the scoring with 28 points. She tied a school record by hitting 9 three point field goals.
"This win was a team victory lead by a balanced effort on the defensive end," Coach Troy Resler said.
The girls next game will be the home opener against Blue Springs this Thursday. JV will play at 5:30 followed by the varsity.
The JV girls topped Central 47-40. Leading the Bulldogs in scoring were Elizabeth McQueen and Paige Weakley with 13 points apiece.
