Chandler Gallagher made history this week for the Kearney girls golf program. Gallagher placed sixth at the Class 2 Missouri State Golf Tournament.

"The course was absolutely beautiful in full fall colors and one of the hardest courses in Missouri to play," girls golf coach Doug Starzl said.

Gallagher shot a round of 82 on Monday, which had her in sixth place, nine strokes behind the leader, Amanda Kim or Ft. Zumwalt South.

On Tuesday, Gallagher fired the third best round of the day with a 78. That was two strokes better than eventual champion Kim.

Gallagher totaled 160 for the two days with Kim finishing at 153. Gallagher's finish was the best ever recorded for a Kearney girl.

Jenna Moore also qualified for the state championship and tied for 61st.  She shot a 102 on Day 1 but bounced back with a 98 on Day 2 for a toal of 200.
