Winning at the right time is so important. The Kearney Bulldogs golf team found out how important at Wednesday Sectional Tournament in Excelsior Springs.

The Bulldogs shot a team total 325 to finish second and qualify as a team for the State Tournament. Kearney edged Savannah by just three strokes to earn the second place finish.

Savannah and Kearney had squared off the week before in District with Savannah winning the title.

This time was the Bulldogs' time.

"The boys played solid golf all day and a total team effort from players 1-5 allowed the guys to advance on," Coach Chad Fleming said.

Adam Lechner (79), Pierce Moling (81), Luke Parker (82), Camrin Nissen (83), and Jake Gibbs (83) will participate as a team in the State Tournament in Springfield.
