Runaway Titles For Golfers

April 24, 2012
Bulldog Broadcasting

There was little doubt about who dominated Suburban Small 6 Conference golf Monday. Once all matches were completed at Eagles Landing Golf Course in Belton, the Kearney Bulldogs were conference champs.

Five varsity golfers competed for the Bulldogs, and five varsity golfers earned All-Conference status. The Dogs beat second place Liberty North by 23 strokes.

Camrin Nissen fired off a round of 76 to earn medalist honors.

Adam Lechner’s 79 earned him a tie for third place with teammate Luke Parker.

Jake Gibbs shot an 83 and took home 6th place. Pierce Moling rounded out the Bulldog’s All-Conference team with an 85 that was good enough for 9th place.

The junior varsity also bested the rest of the Suburban Conference with a team score of 355, six strokes better than the second place Staley Falcons.

Leading the charge for the Bulldogs were medalist Daniel Reeves 85 and runner-up Logan Howell 86.  Lucas Leach took 7th place with a 91.

Matt Thompson finished eighth with a 93. John Griffin’s score of 100 placed him 14th.

The varsity Bulldogs are back in action Wednesday as they compete for a district golf title at Smithville’s Paradise Point Country Club.
