Runners Step Up At Mineral Water

Several personal bests and season bests fell as the Kearney boys and girls track teams competed in the Mineral Water Classic at Excelsior Springs over the weekend.

The girls team managed to collect four gold medals.

Oliviah Sloan, Sabrina King, Bryanna Beasley, and Jasmine Edwards combined to win the 4X800-meter relay.

Sloan, King, and Edwards were joined by Makenzie Alvater at the end of the meet to win the 4x400.

King made it a three gold medal day when she won the 400-meter dash.

Jessi Allen won her first varsity gold medal as she took the 3,200-meter run. Allen ran 12 minutes, 7 seconds for a 10 second personal best performance.

Morgan Dragilla took second in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 10 inches.

The boys team only managed one gold medal but earned top three finishes in seven events.

Connor Stark won the 800 in  season best 2:06.52. He was followed closely by Sam Oxandale in second at 2:07.13, a personal best.

Stark also finished second in the 1,600 with a 4:37.73 which is one second slower than his personal best.

Freshman Quin Troncin ran 10:50.66 in the 3,200 to take third place. That was a six second improvement.

In the long jump Dillon Britt went 19-2 to take second place.

Hunter Bullock finished third in the 400 with a 54.46.

The boys 4x100 and 4x200 relay each took second place.
