Napoleon Edges Bryan in Decisive Third Set
August 25, 2014, Bryan -- The Bryan Girls Tennis Team fell short Monday night as Napoleon edged the Lady Bears 3-2.
With the match tied 2-2, Napoleon tied up the score at second doubles by taking the second set 6-0 after Bryan won the first by a score of 6-3. With the other matches completed the match would be determined by the outcome of the second doubles third set.
Bryan fell behind early but kept it close before tying it up at 4-4. But Napoleon held serve and would eventually break Bryan's serve in the last game to pull out the third set by a score of 6-4 giving Napoleon the 3-2 win.
In other action, Bryan won decisively at first doubles as Mikayla Borland and Trista Savage beat Napoleon's #1 doubles squad by a score of 6-0, 6-2. In addition, Bryan was victorious at third singles 6-0, 6-3 as the Lady Bears' A.J. Breneman gutted out a win.
In addition to the dramatic win at second doubles, Napoleon won convincingly in the top two singles positions as Babette Von Boetticher won in straight sets as did Andrea Braun at first and second singles respectively.
At JV, Kim Roberts, Chloe McCashen, Mariah Stambaugh, Faith Stambaugh, Muskan Sharma, Militia Gray, and Brittany Rosendaul all won for Bryan.
